30th Summer School – Conference “Dynamical Systems and Complexity”

Calandra University Camping, Halkidiki, 28/8/2024 – 6/9/2024

There are many complex dynamical systems in our world, which are characterized by unpredictable evolution in time and/or surprisingly complicated structure in space. Examples are the function of our brain, the evolution of social networks, the financial-monetary system, climate change, the survival of ecosystems, the breakout of geophysical phenomena (e.g. earthquakes) down to the interactions betweenη atoms and molecules.

The study of dynamical and complex systems, in recent years, has advanced surprisingly fast, aiming to understand their common features and characteristics. Research worldwide has primarily focused on the use of analytical and numerical methods of nonlinear dynamics, chaos, fractal geometry, information theory, complex networks but also more traditional fields like statistical physics and informatics.

This year, the 30th Summer School Conference is mainly addressed to graduate students and young researchers, aiming to offer them, in a well-organized framework of ten days: (a) Knowledge in methods of analysis of dynamical systems and complexity and (b) Familiarity with the study of complex systems in biomedicine, socio-economic systems, geophysics, mechanics and other sciences. Given the inter-scientific character of the School, the participants generally come from different fields and wish to build their background and practical knowledge on topics of dynamical systems and complexity, as well as present their own research.

This year, the 30th Summer School – Conference on “Dynamical Systems and Complexity” is dedicated to the 70th birthday of Professor Marko Robnik of the University of Maribor, Slovenia and will take place at the Camping of Kalandra of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, at the Chalkidiki peninsula (http://camping.auth.gr) over the time period 28/8/2024 – 6/9/2024.

All interested to participate (last year undergraduates, graduate students, postgraduate researchers, faculty members, etc.) are invited to submit an application (go to  https://websites.auth.gr/complexity2024/en/information/)  (the application is only in Greek).

Please note that the maximum number of participants is 50 and, if this number is exceeded, a selection procedure will be applied. An official Diploma of Attendance will be awarded to those who have actively followed 80% of the School’s academic activities.
