The Department of Medicine at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki has been organizing and operating the Master’s Program in Fetal-Maternal Medicine since the 2020–2021 academic year. The Master’s Program in “Maternal-Fetal Medicine” lasts 3 semesters (90 ECTS). Upon successful completion of a thesis during the third semester, it leads to a Master’s Degree in “Maternal-Fetal Medicine.”
Fetal-Maternal Medicine is an evolving field of medical science concerned with the identification of predisposing factors, symptoms, and pathological conditions during pregnancy, as well as the prevention and management of problems that could affect the health of the fetus and the mother.
The focus of the Master’s Program in “Maternal-Fetal Medicine” at the Medical School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki is the study, research, and the provision of postgraduate education to healthcare professionals in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology, specifically in the area of Maternal-Fetal Medicine.
The philosophy of the program is to provide graduate students with up-to-date knowledge, methods, and principles that will enable them to continue their education, as well as to cultivate in them the critical thinking and creative skills required for socially and ethically responsible professional practice.
The purpose of the master’s program is to provide a high level of theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of Fetal Medicine. It aims to equip master’s students with capable of continuing education, as well as fostering in them the critical and creative skills required for socially and ethically responsible professional practice in the field of health.
The expected learning outcomes for those who successfully complete the Master’s program, based on both the European and National Qualifications Frameworks, include a wide range of cognitive and practical skills comprising Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies, among which are:
