Information

The Laboratory of Biochemical and Biotechnological Processes was established in 1981 within the Department of Chemical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH). Since 2016, it has been led by Associate Professor Christos Chatzidoukas.

The laboratory conducts extensive research in biochemical and biotechnological processes, with a particular emphasis on microbial cultivation and the exploitation of biomolecules they generate. These efforts target applications across various sectors, including energy, food, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals.

In addition to its research activities, the laboratory plays a key role in supporting the academic programs of the Department at all levels—undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral—by providing opportunities for students to undertake their diploma theses and other research projects.
