Two-Day Conference in Kavala and Drama on “Environment and Child”

As part of the outreach efforts of our university and the continuous public engagement, the Interdepartmental Postgraduate Program of the Department of Medicine at AUTH: “Health and Environmental Factors” and the research group “Histologistas”, in collaboration with the Pediatric Clinic of Drama Hospital, organized a two-day conference on “Environment and Child” under the auspices of the Department of Medicine, AUTH.

The conference was held on May 10, 2024, at the Kavala Hospital and on May 11, 2024, at the Municipal Conservatory of Drama, with the support of the Municipality of Drama and the Secondary Education Teachers Association of Drama (ELME Drama).

The conference focused on topics related to the environment, planetary health, and child health. The purpose of the conference was to inform about the environment and the child, and the impacts of planetary health on human health.

Speakers analyzed interdisciplinary topics related to the environment and its effects both in causing various pediatric diseases and in social phenomena concerning adolescents. Modern health problems, with a focus on the environment and the child, were also analyzed. Postgraduate students were given the opportunity to present their research work and engage in constructive discussions with professors and the public.

Attendees included Directors of Pediatric Clinics, the President of ELME Mr. Konstantinos Evmoiridis, fellow Doctors and Nurses, Postgraduate students, and a large number of citizens.
