The academic year begins on September 1st and ends on August 31st of the following calendar year. The educational work of each academic year is structured into two semesters, the winter and the spring.
- The winter semester for the MSc in Health and Environmental Factors begins in the last week of October and ends in early February. This is followed by the first examination period of the winter A semester around the end of February.
- The spring semester for the MSc in Health and Environmental Factors begins in mid-March and ends in mid-June. This is followed by the second examination period of the spring B semester around the end of June.
HOLIDAY PERIODS
During August, no classes or exams are held, and these weeks are considered summer vacation. Additionally, holidays include:
- Christmas holidays: From December 24th to January 7th.
- Carnival holidays: From Cheesefare Thursday to the day after Clean Monday.
- Easter holidays: From Holy Monday to Thomas Sunday.

- October 28th: Anniversary of the “OXI” (NO) to Italian fascism (National holiday).
- November 17th: Anniversary of the 1973 Polytechnic uprising.
- January 30th: Feast of the Three Hierarchs (Religious holiday).
- March 25th: Anniversary of the 1821 revolution against Turkish rule (National holiday).
- May 1st: May Day – Workers’ solidarity day (Labor holiday – strike).
- Feast of the Holy Spirit: (Movable religious holiday).
