Programme Overview

The subject of the Postgraduate Program (PP) in Paediatric Dentistry is the comprehensive dental care and treatment of children and adolescents, extending to adults in cases of disabilities.

The purpose of the program is to specialize in the methods and applications of Pediatric Dentistry science, train dental graduates in the specialized knowledge and corresponding research, and contribute to the development and promotion of scientific thought in Pediatric Dentistry. It aims to provide high-level pediatric dental care and educate the population on oral health matters to meet the real needs of science and society. Additionally, the program’s purpose is to fulfill the need for high-level postgraduate studies in the field of Pediatric Dentistry, with theoretical, practical/clinical, and research-oriented education. As an English-language program, it aims to compete with similar international programs and contribute to the international recognition of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki by graduating specialized pediatric dentists who may provide services in their home countries.

The learning outcomes and qualifications obtained after successfully completing the program include:

  • Training dentists to become specialists with comprehensive knowledge in Pediatric Dentistry.
  • Educating dentists in the ability to seek additional knowledge and continuous learning throughout their careers.
  • Training dentists in teaching Pediatric Dentistry at both theoretical and clinical levels.
  • Educating scientists capable of conducting scientific and research work.
  • Training scientists capable of collaborating and communicating with teams of other specialists for the comprehensive treatment of special patients.

These postgraduate studies aim to promote knowledge, advance research and technologies, and satisfy the educational, research, social, cultural, and developmental needs of the country. They aim to train high-level scientists capable of contributing to theoretical and applied areas of specific fields of knowledge, specialized thematic units, or individual branches within the fields of study offered by the respective departments. Additionally, these studies aim to generate and disseminate knowledge, technical expertise, methodologies, tools, and research results in the scientific field in which each department operates.
