Academic Advisor Regulations

Upon enrollment in the Interdepartmental Postgraduate Program, each student is assigned a permanent faculty member of the Program as their Academic Advisor. The role of the Advisor is to monitor the student’s academic progress, to be informed by instructors of any repeated absences of the students under their supervision, and to ensure that these students are notified (through the Secretariat) that such absences may result in failure in the course.

In addition, the Academic Advisor provides guidance on the selection of the master’s thesis, taking into account the research interests of the student. Postgraduate students are expected to contact their Academic Advisor regarding any issues that may affect the smooth progression of their studies.

The Academic Advisor offers the necessary guidance to enable the postgraduate student to meet the requirements of the Interdepartmental Postgraduate Program.

The Academic Advisor is expected to hold meetings with their assigned students at regular intervals, and no fewer than twice per semester. Their duties include, among others:

  • Identifying the needs and research interests of the student, supporting their aptitudes and skills, and encouraging them to pursue areas aligned with their strengths.
  • Providing information and facilitating the student’s communication with the Program’s collective bodies and administrative services.
  • Assisting in the preparation of the student’s individual semester study plan and in defining the topic of the master’s thesis.
  • Identifying students with multiple outstanding course requirements.
  • Designing and overseeing a plan of support for such students.

The teaching staff, administrative personnel, and relevant university services collaborate with and support the Academic Advisors in their work, taking into account their information, observations, suggestions, and requests regarding deficiencies or malfunctions that create difficulties for students, as well as any proposals for their resolution.
