Accommodation-Transportation

The School-Conference will be hosted at the Calandra University Camp in Posseidi, Halkidiki owned by the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Information about the camping (location, access, map) can be found in the official website http://camping.auth. gr

Practical accommodation information

The accommodation for the participants is in tents and houses (apartments). Those who prefer a tent should bring a tent with them. The apartments are in ground floor with bath and toilette, kitchenette, A/C, balcony/terrace and one spacious room with 4 beds. There will be no hotel service (towels, soap, etc) but only bedding.

You should have a laptop with you if possible. There will be practical sessions that may require the use of laptop. There will be “eudoroam” internet coverage (https://www.eduroam.gr/) via AUTh and you should check that you have a valid eudoroam network.

There is infrastructure for sports activities (basketball, 5-5 football, beach volleyball, running) so sports shoes and sport clothes is good to have if you want to participate. If there is enough interest, competitions of all sort may be organized (also in the sea and on the beach) … and all this will take place in the afternoon after the seminars!

Important points of the camping can be seen in the map of the camping below.

Here is a brief description of the route with corresponding marked maps:

1. You are on the road from Thessaloniki to Halkidiki (Ethniki odo Thessaloniki – Neo Moudania) either via a regional road, from the city center (Nea Egnatia street or Kon. Karamanli street), or from the airport road Makedonia. Continue on the Thessaloniki – Nea Moudania National Highway, and do not take any exits.

2. At the junction of Nea Moudania (for Kassandra, Sithonia – Nea Moudania), continue straight in the direction of Kassandra (first leg to Halkidiki). Going under the bridge and after the junction the road becomes narrow with one lane for a while but it is highway again with two lanes (new construction).

3. At the end of the highway you will meet a roundabout and take the first exit on the right for Kasandria, Siviri, Fourka, Nea Skioni (probably the first name only is on the sign). You continue on the one-lane country road, pass Kassandria (with three traffic lights!), and do not take any exits. You pass the junction of Siviri, and the junction (with traffic lights) of Skala Fourka in the direction of Nea Skioni.

4. At about 1.5 km after the last junction (with traffic lights) of Skala Fourka in the direction of Nea Skioni, you will meet an exit to the right towards Kalandra (and Poseidi). You will leave the road to Nea Skioni and follow this exit to Kalandra (and Poseidi). In 200 meters you will turn right (you will not continue straight towards the village of Kalandra). You will continue on the road and stay on it, leaving the village of Poseidi on your left (you will not enter the village). Leaving the village of Poseidi behind you, you have the sea on your left hand. Continue straight on the road and do not turn right at the junction you will meet. About 400 m after the junction you arrive at the entrance of the Calandra AUTh Camping.
