LABNET DIAGNOSTIC Lab
The Labnet I.A.E network of laboratories was created in northern Greece aiming to provide high-level services with immediacy and reliability. Modern facilities, specialized staff and the wide range of laboratory tests it covers make it one of the most modern reference laboratories. The purpose of Labnet I.A.E is the substantial support of Biopathology laboratories, providing specialized laboratory tests and continuous scientific support. It aspires to be the cornerstone for the quality upgrade and competitive superiority of all biopathology laboratories. Also, the above diagnostic laboratories provide research and experimental development services in the medical sciences. So far, it has organized 2 days and a two-day information seminar on biopathological laboratories and has participated in several Greek conferences. Labnet I.A.E employs 3 Biopathologists, 6 Biologists, 1 Molecular Biologist, 6 Biochemists, 10 Medical Laboratory Technologists, 1 Veterinarian, 1 Salesperson, 2 Accountants and 7 Transporters. In Labnet I.A.E.'s laboratories, more than 1000 tests are performed daily, with special specialization in rare and molecular tests. A special research field for Doctors and the scientific staff of the laboratories is: isolation and identification of new microorganisms, antimicrobial resistance, HIV, congenital infections, prenatal testing, identification of genetic and epigenetic markers, detection of genetic polymorphisms (SNPs), investigation of the molecular basis of genetic diseases, detection of new biomarkers.

At the Cardiology Clinic A, pioneering research activity is carried out with international recognition and many interdisciplinary collaborations. In addition, a number of multicenter clinical studies are conducted with subjects covering the entire spectrum of clinical and interventional cardiology.
Microbiology Lab, Biology Science Sector, School of Medicine, AUTH
The purpose of the 1st Microbiology Laboratory is to meet the teaching needs at the undergraduate and postgraduate level of the School of Medicine of the University of Athens. biomedical research in the field of Medical Microbiology and serving social needs mainly in matters related to public health. It has modern equipment which is used for research and diagnostic purposes. It also has a biosafety level 3 (BSL-3) area in which all work involving specific pathogenic micro-organisms belonging to the P3 category is carried out. The laboratory's special research interests include the modern methods of diagnosis and monitoring of patients with HIV infection as well as other infectious agents and the modern methodologies of genetic diagnostics and gene sequencing.
