Programme Overview

The aim of the MSc is to ensure the scientific competence of the students, the specialization and the cultivation of high level skills and knowledge in the field of Intensive Care Medicine, the promotion of academic research, as well as the promotion of new scientific knowledge.

The aim of the MSc is to prepare nurses to manage life-threatening problems of patients and to respond to complex and extreme situations. Students will be equipped with specialized knowledge and skills to not only provide appropriate care to critically ill patients, but also to manage the special psychological situations that arise in their families. They will also acquire skills that include the management of a wide range of pathological conditions, the setting of priorities in patient care, the continuous assessment of their clinical progress and the administration of a specialised and demanding treatment regimen with great care and precision. Emphasis is placed on the development of leadership skills and the ability to organise and conduct studies, or research protocols.

The learning outcomes and qualifications of those who have successfully completed the Programme are:

i. to provide graduates of the MSc with a solid scientific foundation, up-to-date knowledge and appropriate research methods and principles that will enable them to engage in continuous learning and improvement

ii. develop the critical and creative skills required for responsible scientific, professional and research activity.

iii. The promotion of research on the subject matter of the Master’s degree, as well as the preparation of high quality relevant postgraduate theses
