Giorgos Christides

Giorgos Christides has worked as a journalist since 2001. He has worked as a reporter, correspondent, and contributor for European and Greek media outlets, including ARD, Der Spiegel, The Guardian, the BBC, and Solomon. Since 2016, he has specialized in investigative journalism with a focus on human rights and migration.

His work has received significant recognition: he was awarded the Daphne Caruana Galizia Prize for Journalism (2023) and the Investigative Journalism for Europe (IJ4EU) Impact Award for three consecutive years (2022–2024). Additionally, he won the De Tegel Prize (2022) and the European Parliament Prize in the newspaper category (2009). In 2024, he was part of the team that received the second prize in the Migration Journalism category of the European Press Prize. He currently serves on the Board of Greece’s Foreign Press Association (FPA).Christides holds degrees in Journalism and Media from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and in European and International Politics from the University of Edinburgh. He is also a PhD candidate at Aristotle University’s School of Journalism and Mass Communications. He has taught in the postgraduate program Media and Refugee/Migration Flows at the Kapodistrian University of Athens and has delivered numerous lectures on investigative journalism and refugee coverage in Europe at universities, institutions, and organizations in Greece and abroad.
