Quality Policy of the Programme

The Quality Assurance Policy of the School of Dentistry AUTh is fully harmonized with the quality policy of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, making the School of Dentistry, committed to providing high quality higher education to the students who choose it, by organizing and implementing Postgraduate Studies Programs (MSc Programs) of high academic standards and significant added value, in the most important areas and fields of science treated by the School.
One of the main objectives of the School of Dentistry of AUTh is the development of a creative environment for research, free scientific expression and work for all staff and members of the academic community. Thus, the School is committed to the implementation of this quality policy in all the postgraduate programs it offers or is accelerating and will offer in the future, implementing the quality procedures foreseen by the Institution and the state, with the aim of their continuous improvement. Through this quality policy, the academic character and orientation of the MSc Programs is strengthened, their purpose, object, and implementation of specific objectives set for each year is promoted, while the means and ways of achieving the above are defined and the participation of stakeholders in the evaluation and redesign processes is ensured.
For the application of this policy in the MSc “Operative Dentistry”, the School of Dentistry is committed to the implementation of the quality processes and procedures provided and analyzed in the Quality Manual of the Internal Quality Assurance System (IQAS) of the Institution, and implemented at the level of the School’s Study Programs with the required specialization in the relevant MSc, and in close collaboration with the University’s Quality Assurance Unit (QAU).
All quality assurance procedures of the School’s MSc Programs are subject to inspection, review and revision, procedures which are carried out on an annual basis by the Por the relevant institutional bodies (MSc Directors), in collaboration with the Institution’s authorities (QAU). The processes – procedures implemented for the monitoring and continuous improvement of the quality of the Postgraduate Study Programs of are as follows:
1) The implementation of a Quality Assurance Policy for the MSc programs, including specific quality assurance actions to create the appropriate framework within which the Postgraduate Study Programs must operate.
2) The allocation and management of the resources of the School’s MSc Programs through procedures that contribute to the best choices in order to reach an appropriate environment for the achievement of the Institution’s objectives in terms of ensuring the provision of the necessary resources in terms of staff, funding, infrastructure and equipment for the proper functioning and continuous improvement of the effectiveness of the MSc Programs in terms of the degree of achievement of the quality objectives they set.
3) The setting of Quality Assurance Objectives on an annual basis by all the Postgraduate Study Programs already organized or being accelerated by the School or to be launched within the academic year. After consultation and agreement of the School and the MSc administration authorities, specific annual quantitative and qualitative objectives are selected for each MSc Program, which are assessed on the basis of appropriate indices. The achievement of these objectives is considered important to improve the efficiency of the internal functions (administrative, educational and research) of the Postgraduate Programs.
4) Quality data collection: measurement, analysis and improvement of the MSc programs of the School of Dentistry of AUTh, which applies effective procedures for the collection and analysis of information on the Postgraduate Programs (in terms of students, teaching staff, course structure and organization, teaching and service provision to students etc.) and are fed with data from the information system of Integrated National Quality Information System (INQIS) of the Hellenic Authority of Higher Education (HAHE) as well as from internal information systems of the School and the Institution (QAU)
5) The Periodic Internal Evaluation and Monitoring on an annual basis of all the School’s MSc Programs in collaboration and with the support of the QAU AUTh. Internal evaluation and assessment of all the processes implemented in all the MSc Programs is carried out, so that through the identification of elements and issues for correction with the implementation of improvements agreed jointly with the QAU, the objectives set are achieved.
6) The Publication of Information on the MSc Programs of the School of Dentistry. Through this process, all the information concerning the MSc Programs is made directly accessible, up-to-date and objectively and clearly formulated. The existence of a specialized area on the School’s website for the promotion of the MSc’s, the existence of a special bilingual page for them as well as the procedures for checking and updating their content are controlled in a normal bases.
7) The External Evaluation of the School’s MSc Programs. For all the MSc Programs of the School, a periodic accreditation procedure is applied by the HAHE, which is carried out by external evaluation by committees of independent experts.
The implementation of the above procedures in the MSc “Operative Dentistry” ensures a) the appropriateness of the structure and organization of its Study Program, b) that the learning outcomes and the qualifications of the MSc graduates resulting from these outcomes agree with those of the European and National Framework for Higher Education-level 7, c) the promotion of the quality and effectiveness of the teaching work through its monitoring by the Curriculum Committee, the Director, the School’s administration and the QAU d) that the qualifications of the teaching staff and especially of the external collaborators are appropriate for the education of postgraduate students, e) the drafting, implementation and review of specific annual quality objectives for the improvement of the MSc, f) the level of demand of the acquired qualifications of the graduates in the labor market through regular investigation of the identified needs and the monitoring of the progress of the graduates of the MSc; g) that the support services provided to postgraduate students are of high quality and meet their needs for effective attendance (e.g. easily accessible and available administrative services and libraries, online services, scholarships, and student care services appropriate to the MSc); h) the efficient use of the MSc’s financial resources derived from tuition fees to provide the necessary services and facilities to postgraduate students; i) conducting the annual internal evaluation and review of the quality assurance system for the MSc ” Operative Dentistry ” with the cooperation of the Director and QAU.
