FAQ

The selection criteria for admission include:

1. Overall undergraduate grade – 15%

2. Grade in undergraduate courses in Dental Surgery – 10%

3. Significant elements of the curriculum vitae – experience in dental practice after graduation – ranking among the top three graduates – certified knowledge of IT, other foreign languages, and attendance of dental scientific conferences – clinical practice experience in dentistry after graduation.

The selection process of candidates is determined by the decision of the Department Assembly or the Postgraduate Studies Committee. It is carried out by a competent three-member Selection and Examination Committee composed of faculty members who are involved in postgraduate projects.

The Committee compiles a complete list of all candidates and, after thorough examination, rejects those who do not meet the minimum criteria set by the Department. It then invites for an interview, where applicable, the eligible candidates who have met the prerequisites. Upon completion of the process, whether it involves a written examination or assessment based on a portfolio of documents and an interview, the final list of successful candidates is compiled.

The teaching of the MSc in Operative Dentistry is closely linked to the initiation, evaluation, and implementation of basic and applied research.

The program includes subjects such as research methodology, scientific communication, and critical literature review. These aim to introduce and familiarize postgraduate students with research methodology, the development of critical thinking, criteria for evaluating scientific information, and the application of best practices in research and subsequent communication of the results.

Topics such as proper literature search, development of research protocols, conducting experimental procedures, paper writing, correct citation of sources (e.g., plagiarism), sufficient documentation of research results and conclusions, and presentation at conferences are specialized training subjects.

The culmination of all these is the completion of the mandatory Dissertation by postgraduate students, as a contributing criterion to the successful completion is the publication of scientific work based on the results in an accredited scientific journal, with a peer-review system, as specified in the MSc’s internal regulations.

In the MSc program, tuition fees are specified at €16,500 for the entire three (3) years, which postgraduate students are required to pay according to the regulations of the Postgraduate Studies. Postgraduate students are obliged to renew their registration at the beginning of each semester and prepay the tuition fees corresponding to that semester to cover part of their education expenses. The renewal form is signed by the Director of the MSc before being submitted to the Department’s Secretariat, accompanied by the proof of payment of the tuition fee.

The tuition fees are determined as follows:
(A) For Greek citizens or citizens of EU countries, the amount is €2,750 per semester of study.
(B) For citizens of non-EU countries, the amount is €5,500 per semester of study.

Tuition fees must be paid no later than the first week of the month in which the semester begins. The first installment is paid earlier, no later than 1 week after their acceptance into the ‘MSc in Operative Dentistry.’ If the corresponding installment of the tuition fee is not paid on time, the postgraduate student will be required to withdraw from the clinical and theoretical practice of the ‘MSc in Operative Dentistry.’ The payment of tuition fees is made to the Special Account for Research Funds of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Non-payment of financial obligations is a sufficient reason for not awarding the Diploma or even expulsion from the MSc.
