Regulation for the Operation of Academic Advisors

The “Film and Television Studies” postgraduate program operates under the Regulation for the Operation of the Academic Advisor (AA), based on the decision of the School Assembly (148/5-12-23).

Article 1: AA Position

The AA is a member of the teaching staff of the postgraduate program (faculty member or researcher of the School of Film).

Article 2: AA Responsibilities and Role

The AA is responsible for monitoring the progress of students, identifying and addressing potential weaknesses, discussing exam results, choosing the topic of the thesis or other assignments, addressing issues that may hinder studies, and informing about the services and opportunities offered by the School and the University, as well as the future professional life of students. The AA has an advisory role, is available for emergency meetings with the students they are responsible for, provides advice, and redirects to specialists in cases of personal matters. The content of discussions is confidential, and the personal data of the student is protected by the AA.

Article 3: Appointment of AA

The AA is appointed after the first week of studies, following a meeting of the Coordinating Committee and a recommendation from the Chair, after discussions with the members of the teaching staff, taking into account the number of students.

Article 4: Replacement of AA

In case of a prolonged absence of the AA (e.g., due to educational leave, suspension of duties, health problems, etc.), the Secretariat of the postgraduate program assigns a new AA. In exceptional cases, students may request a change of their AA, explaining the reasons to the postgraduate program’s administration. The possibility of satisfying the request is examined on a case-by-case basis.
