Quality Policy of the Programme

The Quality Assurance Policy of the School of Film is fully in line with the quality policy of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, as approved by the Senate of the University, and reflects its core values. The School of Film ensures the quality of its educational, research, and administrative work through the continuous improvement of all its operations and with the participation and contribution of all its members.

The School organizes and implements Postgraduate Studies Programmes of high standards in its discipline’s most important areas and fields, oriented towards contemporary trends and requirements, thus strengthening its academic profile. In addition, the School is committed to developing a creative research and working environment for all its staff, educational, research, and administrative, as well as a creative academic environment for its students. Quality is recognized as a fundamental element for the realization of the vision and the achievement of the mission of the School. Therefore, the creation of a culture of quality is considered important.

Quality Policy Implementation – Quality Assurance

The School of Film and the MA program “Film and Television Studies”, in particular, are committed to the implementation of the quality policy, which enhances the academic character and orientation of the postgraduate programs, promotes their purpose and subject matter, implements their strategic objectives (as set each year) and determines the means, actions, and ways of achieving them, ensures the participation of stakeholders and implements the appropriate internal and external procedures. In addition to the above, the School is committed to fostering a climate of communication and cooperation among all members (staff, students, and stakeholders) of the School.

The School of Film and the MA program “Film and Television Studies” implement the institutionalized quality assurance procedures of the Quality Manual of the Internal Quality Assurance System (ΙQAS) of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, with the required specialization at the level of the Postgraduate Program. The implementation of the IQAS procedures is carried out in collaboration with the University’s Quality Assurance Unit (MO.DI.P). The quality assurance procedures are a valuable tool for the School and the individual Postgraduate Programs to implement their educational and research activities, to ensure the achievement of the objectives they have set and to enhance the academic work as a whole.

The School of Film and the MA program “Film and Television Studies” are committed to the implementation of the policy, which will demonstrate:

  • The suitability of the structure and organization of the MA program,
  • that the intended learning outcomes and qualifications follow the European and National Qualifications Framework for Higher Education,
  • the promotion of the quality and effectiveness of the educational/research work of the MA Program,
  • the suitability of the faculty’s qualifications for the MA program,
  • the formulation, implementation, and review of the annual quality objectives for the improvement of the MA program,
  • the level of demand within the job market for the qualifications obtained by graduates,
  • the quality of support services,
  • the effective use of the MA program’s revenue,
  • the annual internal evaluation and review of the quality assurance system for the MA program “Film and Television Studies” with the cooperation of the Internal Evaluation Group (OMEA) and the Quality Assurance Unit (MO.DI.P.) of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

The procedures applied for the monitoring and continuous improvement of the quality of the MA Programs are the following:

  • Implementation of a Quality Assurance Policy for the MA program, recurrent review, and revision (when required).
  • Design of the MA program, following the current legislation and the regulations of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, taking into account -when possible- opinions of students, graduates of the School and the MA, and collaborating institutions.
  • Alignment with the current legal framework and regulations.
  • Implementation of the Regulations of the MA Program and other Regulations and Regulatory Decisions of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
  • Submission of the Individual Record Form and the Course Description Form to the information system of the MO.DI.P. by the faculty.
  • Conducting course and faculty staff evaluation by the students.
  • Various ways of evaluating students.
  • Attempt to monitor the career development of the MA program’s graduates.
  • Faculty staff (selection, regulations, performance, support).
  • Allocation and management of the resources of the MA program (infrastructure, equipment, etc.).
  • Collection and processing/analysis of quality data (complete, accurate, and up-to-date data) to ensure the quality of the Film and Television Studies MA program aiming at its improvement.
  • Monitoring, analysis, and comparison with national and international indicators.
  • Publishing information regarding the MA program.
  • Qualitative and systematic updating of the website of the MA program (Greek, English, and possibly other languages), for the publication of relevant information on the program.
  • Feedback on strategy and target setting, etc., review, and corrective actions (when required).
  • An annual internal evaluation (monitoring, control, and review of the MA program), in line with all the above, based on the guidelines of the Hellenic Authority of Higher Education (HAHE) and MO.DI.P.
  • External evaluation in cooperation with MO.DI.P.

Quality Objectives

The quality objectives on which the School of Film will focus its efforts for the MA program “Film and Television Studies” are the following:

  1. Strengthening of the MA’s recognizability abroad.
  2. Attracting international students.
  3. Strengthening faculty.
  4. Decrease of the average time for completion of the program.
  5. Strengthening of a quality culture.
  6. Increase of student participation in the evaluation process.
  7. Improvement of association between student’s research and the Program’s graduates.

Publication

The Quality Policy is communicated and disseminated electronically to the academic and administrative staff, the students, and all stakeholders. The Quality Policy is posted on the website of the MA program.
